Seattle Divorce - Domestic Violence and COVID-19
Police have seen an increase in domestic violence cases during the coronavirus crisis. The Seattle Police Department stated it has seen a 21 percent increase in domestic violence reports last month.
Governor Inslee's stay home orders may have contributed to the increase in domestic violence.
However, victims of domestic violence can continue to seek a Domestic Violence Protection Order. Under King County Superior Court's new operating procedure, the Court is open for limited services. See link here.
For family law matters, the Court is only hearing emergency matters, a Domestic Violence Protection Order is included in that category.
Please don't hesitate to seek help if you or a loved on is living in a situation with domestic violence.
